Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Silk Road Connection

How is Silk Road Connection different from a moving company or move manager?

Silk Road Connection™ operates at the advisory and oversight level. We look across the entire residential transition—not simply the transportation of household goods or management of an individual service. We represent the client’s interests, create the transition strategy, align the professionals involved and provide oversight through completion.

When should I contact SRC?

Ideally, before vendors are selected and major timelines are established. Early involvement allows SRC to identify dependencies, anticipate complexity and create a coordinated strategy before important decisions become difficult to change.

How do I know whether my transition is complex enough for SRC?

SRC is particularly valuable when multiple residences, destinations, professionals, family members, timelines or significant assets are involved—or when the client simply does not want to personally manage the entire transition. Not every move needs SRC. Complex ones often do.

Who does SRC represent?

SRC represents the client. Although we collaborate closely with many professionals, our advisory responsibility remains centered on the client’s interests and the successful completion of the transition.

Do you only work with clients moving to Florida?

No. SRC is Florida-based and nationally connected. We work with clients whose transitions may begin or end in Florida, as well as those involving multiple U.S. markets. Our role is to build the appropriate team around each engagement while maintaining one consistent point of accountability for the client.

Working With SRC

Can SRC work with the professionals I already have?

Absolutely. SRC is designed to work alongside a client’s existing realtor, designer, attorney, wealth advisor, property manager, mover and other trusted professionals. We do not replace excellent professionals. We help their work function as part of one coordinated transition.

Does SRC select the vendors?

This is particularly valuable for clients relocating across state lines who want continuity, discretion, and a single point of accountability throughout the process.

Does SRC receive commissions or referral fees from vendors?

No. Silk Road Connection does not receive commissions or referral fees from vendors. Our advisory relationship is with the client, and our recommendations are made based on the needs and circumstances of the engagement. This independence is an important part of our vendor-agnostic approach.

Can SRC manage a transition if I am not physically present?

T\Yes. Remote oversight can be one of the strongest reasons to engage SRC, particularly when clients maintain multiple residences, travel frequently or are relocating from another market. The scope of remote oversight is established as part of the engagement plan.

Do you work with senior transitions and adult children?

Yes. SRC can work with older adults, adult children and other family members when a residential transition involves downsizing, senior living, multiple decision-makers or family members living in different locations. We help bring structure, communication and accountability to the transition while respecting its personal nature.

Do you handle art, collections, automobiles or other specialty possessions?

SRC can coordinate appropriate specialized professionals when a transition involves valuable or sensitive possessions. Our role is advisory oversight and coordination; specialized services are performed by appropriately qualified providers.

How involved can SRC become?

SRC offers several Advisory Engagement Levels, ranging from an initial Private Consultation through comprehensive and bespoke Private Client engagements. The appropriate level depends on the complexity of the transition and the degree of responsibility the client wants SRC to assume.

Beginning an Engagement

How are SRC’s advisory fees determined?

Fees are based on the scope, complexity, duration and level of oversight required for the engagement. Following the Private Consultation, SRC can recommend an appropriate engagement structure.

Is my information kept confidential?

Discretion is fundamental to the SRC relationship. Client information and details concerning residences and transitions are handled with care and shared only as appropriate to the engagement and authorized by the client.

How do we begin?

It begins with a Private Consultation. We learn about the residences, timing, people involved, priorities and potential complexity. From there, we can determine whether SRC is appropriate and recommend the right level of advisory involvement

Every move is planned and delivered like a promise.

Every engagement starts with a confidential conversation to understand your priorities, timeline, and level of support required.
